When asked about his arrival time in town, Diamond provided an answer that even Jason Derulo, who posed the question, did not anticipate.

Critics claim that Diamond ‘embarrasses’ Africans with his English, and this isn’t the first time he’s faced such criticism. His latest release, "Komasava Remix," featuring American pop and R&B star Jason Derulo and South African Amapiano artists Chley and Khalil, has been a major talking point.

The song, currently topping the charts in Kenya, was filmed across several locations, including Dubai, where Diamond and Derulo collaborated. Yet, it was during a conversation with Derulo and others that Diamond's English once again drew attention and criticism.

When Jason Derulo asked Diamond what time he had arrived, Diamond's response sparked a flurry of comments online.

Jason inquired, "When did you get into town?" Diamond replied earnestly, "Second right? Second in the morning," inadvertently upsetting grammar enthusiasts on the internet.

This isn’t an isolated incident. In October 2023, Diamond also made headlines for mispronouncing "song" as "sing." While in South Africa with his children, Nilan and Tiffah, he was preparing to leave after spending time with them. Tiffah asked why he was leaving early, and Diamond explained that he was working on a new song overnight. He stated, "I am going to do another sing," which had netizens laughing

Several months before these incidents, a Tanzanian named Allan came forward as Diamond's English teacher. Allan revealed that he had been working with the Bongo Flava star to improve his English, especially focusing on American English fluency.

Diamond initially arranged for Allan to teach English to some of his Wasafi label artists, including Rich Mavoko, Harmonize, and Rayvanny. The program also extended to Diamond's sister, Esma Platnumz, and another artist, Chege.
