Nyeri Governor Responds to Gachagua’s 'Planned' Impeachment: "Bring It On!"

 

Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga has asserted that any attempt to impeach Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua is destined to fail

Kahiga stated that attempts by certain leaders to introduce an impeachment motion against the Deputy President will not succeed, labeling the accusations against Gachagua as baseless.

He remarked, “We’ve heard claims that the Deputy President opposed the Finance Bill during a Cabinet meeting. We should actually applaud him, as the Finance Bill was ultimately rejected by Kenyans.”

Kahiga highlighted that “Gachagua has strong grassroots connections, unlike some who went to Parliament claiming to represent the people but have since lost touch with their constituents.”

He condemned the move to remove the Deputy President as “unfortunate” and warned, “If there’s any impeachment effort against the DP, it’s an affront to our community and an attack on us as a people, and we won’t take it lightly.”

Kahiga added defiantly, “To anyone who thinks that’s the way to go, we say bring it on—we’ll confront it when the time comes.”

Despite the political turbulence, Nyeri Governor Kahiga expressed confidence that President William Ruto would steer clear of such actions.

“As a seasoned politician, I believe the President won’t pursue that route,” Kahiga stated.

He emphasized the need for national stability, noting, “We’ve already lost two years—one to Gen Z demonstrations. It’s crucial to restore calm and focus on addressing issues with our Cabinet Secretaries.”Kahiga urged MPs to prioritize delivering capable Cabinet Secretaries for Kenyans.

“MPs need to heed the voices of their constituents to avoid creating more issues. If the people reject someone, don’t hesitate to reject them. The President has 50 million Kenyans to choose from and shouldn’t be pressured by any individual or group,” Kahiga advised.
